MOURNHAND · PLAYER DATA

Privacy Policy

Effective October 26, 2026

This notice explains how Next Gen Studios handles information when you use Mournhand, including its optional accounts, online play, campaign backup, and in-game news.

What happens when you play offline

You can play the offline campaign without a Mournhand account. The game saves campaign progress, settings, and replays on your device. If that local save is lost before an account backup has successfully synced, we cannot restore it from your Mournhand account. At startup, the game also requests public news from mournhand.com, even if you do not sign in. That request may reveal your IP address, request time, and device connection details to the website and its hosting providers.

Accounts and online play

If you create a Mournhand account, we store your chosen username, an account identifier, password and recovery-code hashes, and credentials used to keep your device signed in. We receive the password or recovery code over HTTPS only when you submit it; we do not keep their plaintext values. For online play we store your player name, general operating-system family, online rank and results, collection, rewards, market and wager records, and multiplayer room and replay data. These game items have no real-money redemption or exchange. Our service temporarily processes IP addresses and request times to limit abuse.

Sign in with Apple

If you choose Sign in with Apple, Apple handles your Apple Account credentials. Mournhand receives a one-use sign-in code, verifies it with Apple, and stores Apple's account identifier and an authorization token with your Mournhand account so sign-in and account deletion can work. We do not request your Apple name or email for this sign-in and do not receive your Apple password.

Campaign backup and syncing

Campaign progress is saved on your device even when you play without signing in. In versions with automatic campaign syncing, signing in to a Mournhand account with a username login or a linked sign-in provider, such as Apple, starts account backup when a connection is available. New saved progress is backed up periodically while that account remains signed in. A separate manual backup choice is not required.

The first eligible account linked to this installation becomes the backup owner of its local campaign. The game stores that account identifier and backup receipts on the device to keep the association. If someone signs in with a different account on the same installation, they may still play its local campaign, but that campaign is not uploaded to the different account. Signing in does not merge two accounts or transfer ownership of their progress.

For the backup owner, the game compares local campaign completion and unlocks with the account backup. If the local campaign is farther ahead, it updates the account backup automatically. If the account campaign is farther ahead, that backup is kept and the less-advanced local campaign does not overwrite it. This comparison does not combine every item or balance from two saves, and a cloud backup does not mean that a different device has automatically restored it. Older versions may still offer manual backup or restore choices.

Campaign backups include saved campaign progress and unlocks, collection and deck data, selected champions, and related saved gameplay choices. Our service stores the backup with your Mournhand account identifier, a revision number, and the time it was saved. We use this information to maintain account backups and prevent conflicting updates; the game service is hosted on DigitalOcean. Local device settings and replay files are separate from this campaign backup. Online rank, inventory, and rewards remain subject to server verification.

Syncing requires a successful connection. Progress that has not successfully synced remains on the device only. You can play offline without signing in; signing out stops further account syncing until you sign in again and does not delete an existing backup. Account deletion removes the active account campaign backup as described under Your choices and deletion; local files and restricted recovery backups are subject to the separate rules in this policy.

How information is used and shared

We use the information above to run accounts, save and restore progress, provide multiplayer and game features, prevent abuse, and respond to support requests. Our game service uses DigitalOcean hosting. Mournhand's public news site uses Hostinger hosting and CDN services. Those providers may process connection and security information as part of delivering the service. Apple processes information when you choose Sign in with Apple or obtain the app through the App Store.

Security and retention

Online traffic uses HTTPS. Account passwords and recovery codes are stored as hashes, and access to account data and recovery backups is restricted. We keep active account and gameplay records while the account exists. When you delete your account, we remove its active record and linked game records. Restricted recovery backups can still contain earlier copies temporarily; automated rotation is designed to remove routine account backups within about 30 days while the relevant systems are running. Outages can delay cleanup. Operational and provider connection records follow separate schedules and may remain after account deletion. Contact us for details about a particular request.

Your choices and deletion

You may play the offline campaign without signing in. You can delete your online account from Account Settings in the game or request help at contact@mournhand.com. Account deletion removes the active Mournhand profile, login credentials, linked identifiers, and account campaign backup. A backup restored after deletion could contain an older record; contact us if you find one so we can remove it. If Apple authorization cannot be revoked during deletion, you may also remove Mournhand under your Apple Account's Sign in with Apple settings. Removing your online account does not erase local files on your device; remove those through the game or device controls. For an access or correction request, email us. We may verify that you control the account, but we will not ask for your password or recovery code by email.
